Obituary

Byron C. Caldwell, 77, of Nampa passed away October 24, 2014 after a brief illness. Byron, the son of Samuel A. and Goldie B. Flannary Caldwell, was born and raised in Nyssa, Oregon Byron joined the Navy in 1957. During his Navy career he was a hospital Corpsman and spent 13 years attached to the Marine Corps serving in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba during the Cuban Missile Crises. He also served two tours of duty in medevac helicopters in Viet Nam. In 1967 he married Marcia Dillon of Nampa. They lived in Southern California until he was honorably discharged from the Navy in 1974. Upon returning to Idaho , Byron worked for Fleetwood Homes for 20 years, Micron MCP for five years and the last 13 years driving special needs bus for Brown Bus Co. During the past 17 years Byron has enjoyed spending time working and traveling with grandson Dylan Caldwell as he developed his racing career. Byron is survived by his wife Marcia; children: Cindra (John) Daniels of El Paso, TX, Todd (Heidi) Caldwell of Lafayette, LA and Traci (Michael) Morgan of Nampa; brother Allen (Sally) Caldwell of Nampa; grandchildren: Dylan (Chelsea Sisemore) Caldwell of Meridain, Sam Caldwell, Blake Kuhl and Jaclyn Morgan all of Nampa and numerous nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents and stepfather Marion Osborn; brother-in-law Ron Dillon and nephew Neil Dillon. An open house to meet with the family will be held from 2 to 4 p.m., Saturday, November 1 at the Morgan home, 58 N. Pleasant Hill Drive, Nampa. A private family service will be held at a later date. His final arrangements are under the direction of Zeyer Funeral Chapel. Nampa 467-7300.
