Dora Elaine Cox was born December 19, 1928 to Charles Robert and Hannah Dora Blake Cox in Shelley, Idaho. She passed away Saturday, May 21, 2016 in Meridian, Idaho at a Meridian Care Center. Elaine Graduated from Shelley High School on May 12, 1947. She married Wayne Keele, Jr. July 2, 1948 in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. They lived in Shelley, Idaho, California, Florida & Tennessee while Wayne served in the Navy. In 1952 Elaine and daughter Joan moved back to Shelley, Idaho. After Elaine's father passed away she cared for her mother until her death in August of 1964; and her sister Pearl Hester Cox until her death in October 1976. Elaine received training as a bookkeeper and worked for Bellvelle Manufacturing in Shelley, Bearing Service, then, First Street Plumbing in Idaho Falls. She then moved to Nampa and worked for the Boy Scouts of America in Boise and later Hales Furniture Store in Nampa. Elaine served a mission to the New Mexico Albuquerque Mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints from May 1984 to May 1985. On her return she began working at Thorne Printing and worked there until she retired. As a member of the LDS Church, Elaine served in numerous church callings. The two callings that brought her the most joy were serving as a stake missionary in Shelley and as a family history missionary in the Nampa Stake Family History Center. She is survived by her daughter Joan and son-in-law Doug Benzon of Nampa; three granddaughters: Brandi Benzon of Meridian, Ami (Ryan) Saylor of Meridian and Karen (Brent) Goldthorpe of Mackay, ID; eight great-grandchildren; two sisters Betty Lott of Sutherlin, OR and Rita Burtenshaw of Idaho Falls, ID; and numerous nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents; five brothers and four sisters; one granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, May 27, at Kohlerlawn Cemetery, 76 6th Street North in Nampa.
