Cather
Apr 18, 1937 — Oct 8, 2016
Douglas "Roger" Cather, 79, of Boise, passed away Saturday, Oct. 8, 2016, in a Salt Lake City, Utah, hospital. He was born April 18, 1937 to Retta and Paul Cather in Nampa, Idaho, where he was raised and educated. After high school he met Kaye Briggs. They were married and blessed with four children: Brett, Shelley, Corey and Lara. They were later divorced. Roger then married Carol Carnell who brought three more children to the family: Mike, Jeff and Keith. Roger was a very hard worker and developed his own business as a drywall contractor. He was very particular in the quality of his work and maintained an excellent reputation throughout his career. Not only was he dedicated to his work and employees, he was devoted to his wife and family. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends in the mountains, streams and woods. Roger was never idle. He was always working at some project improving his home or property or helping others where ever needed. He loved gardening, driving around to look at new construction and traveling around town with his maps learning all the streets in Boise. Everyday Roger enjoyed morning coffee with his friends, reading the paper and completing Sudoku puzzles. Above all these, Roger was a very kind and giving person. He was willing to share whatever he had with anyone in need. Roger and Carol have blessed the lives of many through the goodness of their hearts and their gracious generosity. Roger is survived by his wife Carol; children: Brett Cather of Boise; Shelley (Michael) Peretti of Kealakekua, HI; Corey Cather of Santa Maria, CA; Lara (Peter) Kwiatkowski of Seattle, WA; Mike (Kat) Breeden of Boise; Jeff Breeden of Boise and Keith Breeden of Los Angeles, CA. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters Dee Barton and Bobbie Baum.
