June
Flower
Jun 21, 2014 — Feb 22, 2015
June Williams McPherron Flower, 100, of Nampa, Idaho, passed away in the early morning hours of Sunday, February 22. June was born June 21, 1914 to Richard Morse Williams and Rachel Rae Powell Williams in Samaria, Idaho. She was the sixth child of 11 children. In 1922, June and her family moved to Pocatello, Idaho where she remained until she was 18 years old. June then moved to Los Angeles, California where she met and married Raymond Kenneth McPherron on July 2, 1934. They had two children--Marcia Diane and Dennis. In 1948, June and Ken moved from Los Angeles, California to Boise, Idaho and settled in a home on Hill Road. June worked at the popular restaurant "The Royal" from its opening day in 1948 until her retirement in 1980. June loved people, and she thoroughly enjoyed her work as a waitress there. June's husband of 52 years, Ken, passed away in 1986. Three years later, June married Oscar Edwin Flower on February 18, 1989. They resided in Nampa, Idaho. After 22 years of marriage, Oscar passed away on April 5, 2011. June's secret to a long life was hard work and a love for others. She refused to slow down or give up due to age or ill health. In 2012, June was diagnosed with breast cancer and courageously underwent surgery at the age of 98. She recovered and went into remission. All who met June were amazed that she was 100 years old--she was active, cooked, cleaned, and liked to walk fast! At her 90th birthday celebration, June danced all evening. June will long be remembered by family and friends as a kind-hearted woman who loved people. She loved to talk to friends on the phone and received many calls each day. June baked thousands of loaves of bread in her bread maker and gave away nearly all of them to friends and family. (She used 100 pounds of flour in 1 year.) June's trademarks were her smile, love for everyone she met, and desire to hug anyone who stood near her. She truly had a gift of love for all. June was preceded in death by her parents; nine of her 10 siblings; her husband, Kenneth McPherron; and her husband, Oscar Flower. She is survived by her sister Beverly Williams Walters of Santa Cruz, California; her daughter Marcia Diane McPherron Cunningham of Sandy, Utah; her son Dennis McPherron of Hamilton, Montana; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. June was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and attended the Nampa 13th LDS Ward. A graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, February 27 at Dry Creek Cemetery, 9600 Hill Road, Boise, Idaho. Arrangements are under the direction of Zeyer Funeral Chapel, Nampa, Idaho. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Nampa 13th Ward Fast Offering Fund, to aid the needy. Check may be sent to Nampa 13th Ward O/C Bishop Boyd Kent, 8162 E.
