Naomi Knowles Everton Christensen Obituary (1920

Naomi Knowles Everton Christensen, 94, passed away at her home on Sunday, March 1, 2015, in Boise Idaho. She was born to Laura Pearl Knowles and Walter Marion Everton on May 2, 1920 in Logan, Utah, the tenth of eleven children.. Naomi grew up in Logan. She excelled at school and made life-long friends in her childhood. From May 1941 to March 1942, she served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Northwest Mission that included Washington, Oregon, Montana, and Idaho. After returning from her mission, she worked at the Salt Lake Tribune as a city desk reporter. In December of 1945 she was given an assignment to cover the local FBI office, where she met a young clerk named RW Christensen. He soon became the love of her life. They were married on May 8, 1946 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They had two children while they resided in Salt Lake City. RW was promoted to FBI Special Agent, and was transferred to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania where they lived for 12 years. Three more children were added to the family during this time. In January 1964, they were transferred to Boise where they lived for the remainder of their lives. Naomi loved raising her children and being around her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved to play the piano, sew, make quilts, and canned all the vegetables from RW's prolific garden. She loved playing board games with her grandchildren, and anyone else who would play with her. Family was of ultimate importance, and she started a monthly newsletter she called the Christensen Chronicle to help keep communication going between children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The newsletter started July 1988 and has been published monthly for the past 27 years. She loved the Lord and served in the LDS Church in many callings including Relief Society President, Boise Temple Historian, and as a missionary with her husband in the Boise Idaho Mission. She was also well loved by others. When visitors came to her home, they always left feeling uplifted. Naomi is survived by her sister, Ruth Everton (Gus) Gold of Brookings, Oregon; her children: Randall Wynn (Bette) of White Rock, New Mexico, Roy (Ruth) of Manteca, California, and Laureli Christensen of Boise, Idaho; 13 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren. Her husband, RW Christensen, her son Bruce, and daughter Rebecca (Hugo Morales), preceded Naomi in death.
