Paul Jennings Bates III (PJ) was born August 21, 1980 in Mesa, Arizona. He passed away suddenly on Friday, September 24, 2014 in Boise, Idaho. He is survived by his parents Laurence Albert Bates and V. Ellen Bates; by his siblings: Rhonda Lee Bates-Howard, Rebekah Lynn Brennan, Anna Janelle Bates, Aimee Jeanette Bates, Laurence Albert Bates, Jr; his brother-in-law Bernie Brennan and sister-in-law Laura Toomey Bates; nephews: William Howard, Zachary and Aaron Brennan; nieces: Emma Wagner, Hellen and Diana Howard and Natalie Bates; and numerous friends. Paul's accomplishments include receiving a Purple Heart from the time he served in the Army. He held the rank of Staff Sergeant at the time of his Honorable Discharge. Paul's hobbies and interests included music, books and hiking. He hiked to the peak of Mt. Borah several times in his lifetime.
